UPDATED: Hazardous Morning Commute Expected on Tuesday
The first winter storm of the season could impact morning and evening commutes in Andover
ANDOVER, MA - The region is expected to see its first winter storm on Tuesday, and the precipitation is expected to make for treacherous travel during the Tuesday morning commute.
A mixture of snow and sleet is expected to start around midnight, and precipitation will quickly change to all sleet from south to north by early Tuesday morning, according to the National Weather Service.
The sleet will then change to rain along the coast by mid-to-late Tuesday morning. However, forecasters say to expect extended periods of freezing rain across interior Massachusetts. New snow and sleet accumulation of one to two inches, according to the National Weather Service, though predictions vary.

A winter weather advisory will be in effect for Andover from 10 p.m. Monday night to 7 p.m. Tuesday afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.
In addition, a freezing drizzle advisory may also be needed for portions of Eastern Massachusetts, particularly, Northeast Massachusetts by Tuesday night, according to meteorologists.
