Vandalism ‘Getting Worse’ on Algonquin Avenue

The police logs for Tuesday, July 5, and Wednesday, July 6, contained one arrest and several small incidents.

The following are excerpts from the Andover Police log. The log is open to the public.

Tuesday, July 5

  • At 8:50 a.m. a past hit and run was reported on River Road.
  • At 9:16 a.m. a caller reported that his golf clubs were stolen on Enmore Street.
  • At 9:45 a.m. a caller reported a two-car accident on Haverhill Street with possible injuries.
  • At 3:01 p.m. a caller on Algonquin Avenue reported that her mailbox was recently vandalized and alcohol containers were thrown on her lawn. She reported that this has happened multiple times, but it now seems to be getting worse. An officer filed the incident.
  • At 5:46 p.m. a caller reported two females at the gazebo in the Park smoking an illegal substance. An officer spoke with the females and found they were smoking tobacco.

Wednesday, July 6

  • At 3:02 p.m. an officer reported a sinkhole formed at Barnard Street.
  • At 3:06 p.m. a two-car motor vehicle accident was reported on Sunset Rock Road.
  • At 5:32 p.m. a caller reported a theft from her motor vehicle on Bulfinch Drive.
  • At 7:25 p.m. police arrested Jane L. Dixon, of 30 Boutwell Road, at her home in Andover. Dixon was charged with assault and battery on a household member.
  • At 11:46 p.m. a caller reported that her vehicle was stolen on River Road. Surveillance video showed a small black two-door coupe involved, but police were unable to get any further description.
