When is Andover getting an electric car charging station?

The town of Andover planning division is looking into the installation of an electric car charging station in downtown Andover. However, don't expect it to be available anytime soon because town officials are still investigating how they can get one installed without a cost to taxpayers.

Senior Planning Lisa M. Schwarz said that the town will be looking for a 
"turnkey provider" that will fund the installation of the charging stations and will be able to service them within a reasonable time frame. This provider would be a company that deals with electric car charging stations in some facet of their business. 

After losing a grant that would have partially funded a charging station, the town is now in the process of finding the provider and also making sure that they find the right location and setup for the charging stations. 

We"’re in the process of making sure we’re doing everything correctly," said Schwarz. "And at no cost to taxpayers." 

Currently, they are thinking that a charging station would be best at a spot in the Park Street Village parking lot.
