WinterFest Returns To Andover This Weekend

WinterFest promises "a day filled with winter activities," including an ice fishing derby, this weekend at Pomps Pond.

ANDOVER, MA — The Conservation Division and Andover Recreation welcome Andover families to attend a day filled with winter activities as WinterFest returns to Pomps Pond on Sunday, February 4. The action will get underway at 10:00 AM, and is scheduled to last until approximately 2:00 PM.The free day-long festival will include guided hikes around the pond, an ice rescue demonstration, a public safety equipment exhibit, and an ice fishing derby, dependent on ice conditions. Complimentary hot cocoa and light refreshments will be provided to attendees.An outreach coordinator from Zoo New England will be on hand to lead a mock wildlife tracking exercise, a particularly popular activity introduced during Winter Fest 2022 that offers lessons to participants on wildlife conservation and the protection of species indigenous to Andover. Free hikes start at 11 AM. Stay for the Ice Rescue by the Andover Fire Department at 1:30 PM.Learn about the Massachusetts Vulnerability Plan, a state grant funding program that Andover is participating in.

Safe ice permitting, anglers are welcome to participate in the Ice Fishing Derby, which runs from 8 AM – 1 PM. Anglers should provide their own gear. Pomps Pond is located at 147 Abbot Street. Parking is available on site.
