Arlington Fire Hydrant Inspections To Begin Oct. 3

The fire department will inspect all of the over 1,400 hydrants in town and expects to be done with inspections by Oct. 22.

ARLINGTON, MA — The Town of Arlington’s yearly fire hydrant inspections will begin on Monday, Oct. 3.

The fire department will inspect all of the over 1,400 hydrants in town and expects to be done with inspections by Oct. 22. Work will take place Monday through Friday between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m.

During this process, hydrants are opened, flushed, and inspected to verify proper drainage, ensuring they do not freeze in winter.

The flushing is unlikely to result in significant loss of water pressure or rusty water. However, residents who experience rusty water are advised to run cold water until it is clean.
