Arlington High School Will Be Remote Through End Of Year
Citing district officials' concern over the AHS facilities, the School Committee enacted remote learning until January.
ARLINGTON, MA — Arlington High School students will not have in-person classes until late January, the School Committee decided Thursday. Principal Matthew Janger told the Committee there are not enough seats to ensure health and safety guidelines are followed, YourArlington reported.
High needs students will still be able to attend school in-person. The district will prepare two reports this fall: one by Oct. 16 regarding the high school facilities and another by Nov. 13 concerning student participation rates, funding for any new costs for hybrid learning and data about successful implementation of hybrid models at other high schools.
There are plans to host on-campus "reverse field trips," which would allow students to come to the school for sessions like labs, music practice and similar activities. Students will otherwise be learning remotely through the end of 2020.

The School Committee also shortened the school day for Pre-K through fifth grade on the days they are on campus, YourArlington reported. Students will be let out at 1:45 p.m., rather than 2:30 p.m. on the days they are remote.
