Arlington Lands On List Of America's Best Small Cities

ARLINGTON, MA — Four Massachusetts communities, including Arlington, are among the best small cities in the United States, according to WalletHub. The personal finance site on Tuesday released its list of the Best Small Cities in America in 2020, which also included Arlington, Lexington, Needham and Milton in the top 20.

Wallethub compared more than 1,200 cities with populations between 25,000 and 100,000 based on 43 key indicators of livability, ranging from housing costs to quality of school system. The site says the COVID-19 pandemic is slowing city growth and pushing people into smaller cities, where they have "wiggle room, fewer degrees of separation and shorter commutes."

Wallethub ranked Arlington 13th on its list. Sammamish, Washington, topped the list, with Lexington, Needham and Milton all finishing in the top 10. See the site's 20 best small cities below:
