Arlington Resident Joins Boston Nonprofit That Helps The Homeless

In her new roll, Taylor Mortell will manage all development activities for Brookview

ARLINGTON, MA — Brookview House, a nonprofit that provides families experiencing homelessness with safe housing and supportive services, announced Thursday that Taylor Mortell of Arlington has been named Director of Institutional Advancement.

In her new roll, Mortell will manage all development activities for Brookview, including fundraising campaigns, events, and managing donor relations.

Mortell joins Brookview from Raw Art Works, Inc., a youth arts organization rooted in art therapy, where she was the Development Manager. Prior to that, she was the Director of Development at Agassiz Baldwin Community and Maud Morgan Arts Center. She studied early childhood education at Bunker Hill Community College and received her Bachelor in Fine Arts in Painting degree at Boston University.

Brookview is also welcoming Patricia Barbosa as its new Director of Administration.

“The deep expertise and versatility that Patricia and Taylor bring add immeasurable value and support to our organization and to the Brookview families,” Deborah Hughes, president and CEO of Brookview House, said in a statement. “In addition to their professional knowhow, they are wonderful, compassionate people who fit in perfectly with our talented team.”

Brookview has been able to expand its programs, services, and staff through grants received earlier this year totaling nearly a half million dollars from the Department of Public Health, Dana Farber Cancer Institute, Children’s Hospital, and Blue Cross Blue Shield.
