Arlington Vaccinates 1,000+ Kids At Weekend Clinic

ARLINGTON, MA — More than 1,000 children received COVID-19 vaccines at a clinic in Arlington over the weekend.

The clinic was held Saturday at Arlington High School. Health and Human Services Director Christine Bongiorno said "almost 1,200" kids ages 5-11 received a shot.

Bongiorno tweeted a day earlier that one-third of Arlington children in that age group would be vaccinated at the clinic.

"We've been waiting for this," one parent told WCVB. "Very relieved."

Rochelle Walensky, director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, endorsed the Pfizer shot for children last Tuesday, following a 14-0 vote by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices in favor of its use. The FDA had previously granted emergency use of the Pfizer vaccine for children down to age 5.
