UPDATED: Bomb Threats at Arlington High and Arlington Catholic Thursday Morning

Students are back to business as usual at AHS, and are in the process of returning to Arlington Catholic.

ARLINGTON, MA - Arlington Catholic and Arlington High School both received bomb threats Thursday morning officials confirmed.

Just after 8 a.m. police announced that Arlington High School received a low-grade threat. The building was swept by officials and students did return to school for business as usual.

Just before 8:30 a.m., Arlington Catholic High School received what officials are also calling a low-grade threat. Just after 8:40 p.m. officials cleared the building and is in the process of re-entering the building.

In an email to parents, Superintendent Kathleen Bodie stated that at 7:55 a.m., AHS declared a shelter in place after a staff member received an automated call. Students who had already arrived were held outside and those who hadn't were instructed not to drive onto campus.

The school declared just before 8:30 a.m. that the shelter-in-place was over and that the school had returned to normal activity.

"Today’s threat follows a recent pattern of bomb threats to several school communities across Massachusetts," Bodie wrote."We take any threats seriously and act with caution as we secure our schools for your students. However, I’d like to reassure you that school is still a safe place for your child."

Guidance counselors and social workers were made available to students at AHS.
