Long-Awaited Heights Pub Opens In Arlington
The highly anticipated pub, which moved into the former Balich 5 & 10 space, overcame several speed bumps in its development.
ARLINGTON, MA — After more than two years of development, The Heights Pub opens Friday in Arlington.
The Mass. Ave. spot opens at 4 p.m. and will be first come, first served.
"Come down and put in your name and phone number, and we will call you once your table is ready," according to a statement on the pub's Facebook page. "We are expecting a big crowd tonight, so please be patient."

The Heights Pub has been in development since the spring of 2019, taking over the former Balich 5 & 10 space.
Owner Jim O'Rourke, of First House Pub in Winchester, initially faced pushback from a pair of nearby business owners when it was determined his plan would violate a zoning bylaw pertaining to the number of parking spaces. The opposition was ultimately withdrawn, but the pub needed to secure a variance on the town bylaw.

Plans stalled again once the pandemic hit, delaying the licensing process and the redevelopment of the space.
The Heights Pub will feature a full-service bar with beer, wine and cocktails, as well as pub food, American fare and gluten-free options. Its address is 1314 Massachusetts Avenue.
