MA Patch Daily: Bomb Threat, Powerless Commute, Ready for the Weekend?

Arlington and Beyond: Town says "No" to Boston Olympics, dam closes Route 2, and ducklings saved after being hit by car.

It’s Friday, and the 80-plus Patch sites in Massachusetts have been humming with news. Here are some of the stories the editorial team has been working on.

What a commute this morning, huh? First, it was the Everett substation outage that cut power to nearly 45,000 and shut down the Orange line. Then, it was a dam bursting causing delays on Route 2. The road was reopened around 3:30 p.m. this afternoon.

Unlike that state rep in New Hampshire who made headlines when he struck ducks and flew the coop, this woman called police and the ducklings were saved. It’s bad enough to be indecently assaulted… but when the alleged perp looks like this? Yikes. Brookline Town Meeting voted more than two-to-one to demand pols pull the plug on the Boston 2024 Olympics proposal. After 12 years, this man is finally in court facing gun charges. This Mercedes Benz was teetering on the edge earlier today. A man was arrested on the North Shore for allegedly assaulting an EMT. And this man was arraigned earlier this week for allegedly stealing a boat and then, burning it on an island. What a waste!
