Moriarty Joins Arlington As Assistant Planning Director
Erin Moriarty, a former technical lead, planner and project manager for an award-winning firm in Columbus, Ohio, joined the DPCD June 28.

ARLINGTON, MA — The Arlington Department of Planning and Community Development has named Erin Moriarty its new assistant director. Moriarty, who joined the staff June 28, will perform professional and technical work, including the drafting and implementation of land use policies for the town and management of community affairs.
She previously served as technical lead, planner and project manager at ms consultants, inc., an award-winning engineering, architecture, planning and environmental consulting firm in Columbus, Ohio.
In her role, she developed action plans, budgets and engagement strategies for a range of planning projects, including downtown revitalization plans, land use and zoning policy updates, multi-modal transportation studies and reactivation plans for riverfronts and public spaces.

"Erin is an excellent addition to the department and the Arlington community," Jennifer
Raitt, Arlington's director of Planning and Community Development, said. "She brings a wealth of skills, knowledge, and expertise."
Moriarty holds a master's degree in city and regional planning from Ohio State University and a bachelor's of fine art from the University of Dayton. She is a member of the American Planning Association, and in the past has served as adjunct faculty at Ohio State and commissioner for a historic preservation and planning board.

"Arlington has a great reputation for being innovative, and I am looking forward to working with the talented team in the Department of Planning and Community Development and the Arlington community to support Town goals," Moriarty said. "As a New Englander, I’m especially pleased to return to the area."
Moriarty was selected from a pool of 15 applicants who applied for the position. Members of
the selection team were Raitt, Human Resources Director Caryn Malloy and Town Manager Adam Chapdelaine.
