Select Board endorses Parks & Playground Investment Plan - December 6, 2021

Municipalities across the nation are the beneficiaries of a significant influx of federal funds via the American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA). ARPA is intended to address the negative health and economic impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic. Arlington expects to receive $35.25 million in funds.

After reviewing and modifying Arlington’s ARPA Framework over the course of several Select Board meetings, the Board voted to endorse it at its October 25th meeting. In this vote the Board also endorsed implementation of several programs, with the understanding that further endorsement will be sought when additional programmatic details are developed. As the Town continues through the ARPA process, and the four-year period in which to spend this funding, it is important to understand that the ARPA Framework may continue to evolve as we learn more about eligible program areas and community needs.
