Patriots Star Christian Barmore Facing Misdemeanor Assault Charge: Report
The charge stems from a reported incident that took place during the summer.
ATTLEBORO, MA — New England Patriots Defensive Tackle Christian Barmore is facing a misdemeanor assault charge related to an alleged incident that took place this past summer, according to a report from WCVB NewsCenter 5.
Barmore has been charged with one count of assault and battery on a family/household member from an occurrence on Friday, Aug. 8 at Barmore’s home in the town of Mansfield. The accuser, who was reportedly in a relationship with Barmore at the time, had her phone taken from her after the pair had gotten into a verbal altercation about the air conditioning temperature in the home as well as food according to documents. The documents then state that Barmore grabbed the woman and threw her onto the floor as she was trying to leave the house, followed by grabbing her by the shirt in the area of her neck as she tried to get back up before eventually letting her go. The altercation reportedly took place in front of the couple’s two-year-old child.
The criminal complaint was issued on Tuesday, Dec. 16 and Barmore is slated to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court on Tuesday, Feb. 3.

The Patriots released a statement following the news of the charges, saying that both the organization and the NFL have been aware of the situation since the incident first took place.
“The New England Patriots are aware of reports regarding a pending February arraignment involving Christian Barmore, which stems from an alleged domestic incident that occurred in August. The Patriots were made aware at the time of the incident and informed the NFL in a timely manner. The matter remains part of an ongoing legal process. We will respect that process, continue to monitor the situation closely, as we have over the past few months, and cooperate fully with the league. We will have no further comment at this time.”

Barmore was drafted in the second round of the 2021 NFL Draft by New England out of the University of Alabama. The Philadelphia native has been arguably one of the team’s best players since his arrival, and has formed a formidable interior defensive line duo in 2025 with Milton Williams, who joined the team this offseason in free agency.
