T-Storms Possibly to Roll Through Arlington

Thunderstorms could roll through Arlington early Tuesday morning as heavy rain continues to drench the region.

Steady rain Monday afternoon will slow to a drizzle at night. Heavy rain will return after 1 a.m., with a chance of thunderstorms, according to the National Weather Service.

If a thunderstorm occurs, it will be the first thunderstorm of spring in New England following an extremely rare “thundersnow” event in eastern Massachusetts in February.

Here’s the forecast for the region for the next few days:

• Monday: Rain. 13-18 mph winds. Possible thunderstorms after 1 a.m. Low of 50 degrees.
• Tuesday: Rain and chance of thunderstorms before 1 p.m., with 9 to 13 mph winds. Things calm down at night. High 65, low 44.
• Wednesday: Rain likely. High 63, low 42.
• Thursday: Partly sunny. High 54, low 38.
