Pierce has been a tireless advocate of the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR) Program with Special Olympics for more than 20 years. His participation in the program grew over the years to key leadership roles in his county and region. He now serves as the co-executive director of the statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run Executive Council.

"One of the most rewarding things for me is to see look on the faces of the Special Olympics athletes when they're presented an award for an accomplishment that they probably never thought that they could do, but they did … the feeling of accomplishment that they have is tremendous," Pierce said.
