Attleboro Barn Fire Kills Horse
"Multiple animals" were rescued but one horse died, according to the fire department.

ATTLEBORO, MA — A horse was killed in an Attleboro barn blaze, the fire department said.
The 40 Cumberland St. barn caught fire about 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Attleboro Fire Department said in a media release.
"Firefighters arrived to find a large barn engulfed in flames," the release said. "The property’s narrow roadway slowed access, but crews moved quickly to begin knocking down the fire while simultaneously searching for several horses that were trapped inside."

Firefighters rescued "multiple animals before conditions deteriorated," according to the release, but one horse died in the fire.
“The quick, coordinated actions of our crews under very difficult conditions prevented a much greater tragedy,” District Chief Michael Maitland said in the release.

“Their determination and teamwork saved not only the home but also several animals,” Maitland said.
