
The vehicle of a suspected drunk driver struck a Seekonk ambulance in Providence early Friday morning, according to the Providence Journal. The ambulance was transporting a patient to Rhode Island Hospital. The ambulance driver and another Seekonk firefighter were injured.
The Journal reported:
The Providence Fire Department was called to transport the patient and the two Seekonk firefighters, [Seekonk Fire Chief Alan] Jack said.

Both firefighters have been placed on injured leave, Jack said.
He said the ambulance's cabin was extensively damaged.

The unidentified driver of the vehicle that allegedly struck the ambulance at 12:49 a.m. was taken into custody on suspicion of drunk driving, according to the Journal.
