Council Votes for Outdoor Downtown Dining

Sangria's and Scorpio's will serve customers in front of their restaurants.

The City Council on Thursday voted 9-0 (Mark Cooper and Shannon Heagney were absent) to support permit requests by downtown Attleboro restaurants and for outdoor dining.

Several councilors spoke enthusiastically about the concept, with Jay DiLisio saying it shows that Attleboro is interested in bringing businesses to the city's downtown.

The Scorpio's permit will allow for alcohol service. Sangria's had not requested permission for alcohol service.

The permits were required because the tables will be set up on the sidewalk, which is city property.
