A flash flood watch is in effect in the Attleboro area, according to the National Weather Service.
The flood watch will last from 12 p.m. Thursday to 6 p.m. Thursday.
"As energy in the atmosphere and a wave of low pressure ride in from the west this evening, showers and storms with locally heavy rain, become more numerous," according to WHDH's Chris Lambert. "With the atmosphere loaded with moisture, it doesn't take long for pockets of downpours to produce an inch or two of rain in spots. Since the threat for that is there, a flood watch is in effect from this afternoon to tomorrow afternoon. The highest threat for street/urban flooding is overnight and early tomorrow morning. Some rivers and streams may near their banks by tomorrow afternoon, so we'll watch for that as well."
The watch doesn't bode well for low-lying Attleboro. Earlier this month, La Salette Shrine's parking lot was completely engulfed with water.
