Seekonk Stores Evacuated Due to Report of Gunman

No man is found.

Several stores along Route 6 in Seekonk were evacuated Sunday afternoon after police received a report at about 4 p.m. that a man was was carrying a rifle through a parking lot toward Home Depot, according to the Providence Journal.

The newspaper reported:

The police first evacuated Home Depot and Stop & Shop and then moved on to Michaels, Petco, Golf Town and , said Lt. David Dyson. Each closing lasted about 5 to 10 minutes.

"We were unable to locate him," Dyson said.

Dyson also said, according to the newspaper, that police checked with two local stores that sell guns, and none reported the sale of a rifle.
