Three Attleboro High School Students Named National Merit Scholars

Three Attleboro High School students were named National Merit Scholars this week, according to Attleboro High  School Principal Bill Runey.

Students qualifying as National Merit Commended Scholars are Benjamin Akers, Elizabeth Clifton, and Maxwell Lancaster.

According to Runey, the three are among approximately 1.5 million U.S. high school students who participated in the Oct. '12 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. Almost 34,000 students earn scores high enough to receive Letters of Commendation in recognition of their outstanding academic promise.

"It is extremely rewarding to see our students recognized in this way," Runey said. "Commended Scholars and Semifinalists are those in the top 3 percent of all students in the nation taking the exam. This is a tremendous achievement that reflects positively on our Blue Pride Community, and we are proud to extend our congratulations to them and their families."
