French Cultural Center Prepares for Bastille Day Block Party

Marlborough Street will be blocked off from 6-11 p.m. on July 13 to accommodate 2,000 revelers dancing in the street!

 

More than 2,000 revelers will celebrate in the street Friday from 6 - 10 p.m. with live music, dancing, French food (think delicious crepes!) and more to celebrate Bastille Day.

Hosted by the , the strip of Marlborough Street will be blocked off between between Clarendon and Berkeley streets in honor of France's national holiday on July 14. It commemorates the storming of the Bastille prision in 1789, and celebrates the people's uprising against the monarchy and espouses the three pillars of the French republic: Liberty, Equality, and Fraternity.

Highlights include two francophone acts: Award winning Modern African Instrumentalist, Diblo Dibala, known as the fastest guitarist from Congo and Sarazino, presenting a musical melting pot of roots reggae and Latin grooves with Arabic and West African grooves and influences of catchy Canadian and French pop.
