Fresh Paint Day

2. Look for artists all over the city today, capturing the beauty of Boston for the Copley Society of Art's 24th annual Fresh Paint Day. The event is meant to promote the visual arts, and heighten people's awareness of the city as a cultural center. More than 80 artists will be out painting from 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. in Beacon Hill, Back Bay, Bay Village, Charlestown, Jamaica Plain, Kenmore, the North End, and South End.

3. The Garden Club of the Back Bay announced $66,000 in grant money that will be used for a wide range of projects - from the inoculation of elms against Dutch elm disease in the Public Garden, to summer camp scholarships for 20 kids to attend the Boston Nature Center of the Massachusetts Audubon Society. 4. EarthFest kicks off on Saturday at the Hatch Shell, featuring bands that include Twin Berlin, Eve 6, Spin Doctors and Third Eye Blind. The free festivities start at 10 a.m. at the Kids Planet Family Stage and at 11:30 a.m. at the main stage. Also at the event will be nonprofit environmental groups, a Whole Foods Market village (free samples) and an interactive learning area for children and families.
