Harbor Islands Voted Best 'Staycation' by Back Bay Readers

Here are the results of this week's Best of Patch Readers' Choice Poll

Fifty percent of voters chose the as the best 'staycation' in the area. 

And it's no surprise. The 34 islands and peninsulas, including the popular Georges and Spectacle islands, are chock full of history and things to do: hiking, kayaking, picnics, fishing, swimming, camping, wildlife watching and more. 

There's also a packed event calendar, including a Spectacle Island 5K Road Race and Kids Fun Run on June 2, Civil War-era baseball games played at Fort Warren, and live afternoon concerts by Berklee College of Music on various days between June and August.

Getting there is a about a 30 minute ferry ride from Long Wharf North, and service just opened on May 5. The season runs from May-October.
