A man who reportedly stole two belts from Gucci America pulled a knife on the security guard and fled.

Boston Police Officers responded to a report of a larceny in progress at 800 Boylston Street at about 1:04 p.m. on Monday, March 11.

On arrival, officers spoke to the assistant store manager, who said that they had observed the suspect grab two belts off of the rack and place them on his person. The manager also said that the suspect had displayed a knife to one of the employees. The suspect left the store and headed towards Hynes Convention Center.

A security guard observed the suspect take the two belts and look over other items in the store. Using the mirrors, the guard watched the suspect place the belts inside his jacket.

When the suspect went to leave, the guard attempted to grab the belts. “Can you hand over the belts,” the guard said. To this, the suspect said, “you know what” and pulled a knife attached to a chain from his right front pocket and pointed the blade at the guard. The guard stepped back and the suspect fled.
