Scituate Native to Run Boston Marathon As Part of The Skating Club of Boston Team

Jasmine Lanata will run to support the Always Champions campaign to honor the victims of the January 29th plane crash

Scituate native and Boston College sophomore, Jasmine Lanata, was chosen to receive the first invitational entry for The Skating Club of Boston's Boston Marathon team. The Skating Club of Boston, New England’s premier figure skating club and training center, was chosen to receive two invitational entries as part of the Bank of America Boston Marathon Official Charity Program. The program grants various charities the entries as a way to support their organization’s fundraising efforts.

The funds raised will benefit the Club’s Always Champions campaign that honors the six victims and Club members that perished in a tragic plane crash on January 29th in Washington, DC.

Jasmine is a long-time Club member and skates with the Theatre on Ice team. She worked closely with Club Director Mia Bailey on securing the invitational entries with the goal to raise money to support the Always Champions campaign.

“I am truly grateful for the opportunity to run the 130th Boston Marathon in honor of the Always Champions campaign,” Jasmine Lanata said. “The loss of six cherished members of our community- Evegenia Shishkova, Vadim Naumov, Christine and Spencer Lane and Jin and Jinna Han- has left a lasting impact on all of us. They embodied the spirit, dedication and warmth that make The Skating Club of Boston such a special place.”

For the second entry, the Club invites the general public to apply and will select an individual who will support the Club's overall fundraising goal of $50,000 for the Club’s running team.

“When Jasmine first shared her idea and how it could support Always Champions, it truly moved me,” said Mia Corsini Bailey, Club Director of The Skating Club of Boston. “She’s been part of our Club family for years and has always dreamed of running the Marathon. When we received two entries, it was clear she would take one, and we wanted the second to go to someone who may be beyond our skating family, but who feels connected to this cause.”

To apply for the second invitational entry, interested candidates are asked to fill out a short questionnaire. The deadline to apply is October 24 at 5:00 pm EST and a runner will be chosen on Monday, November 3, 2025.
