Signs of Spring at Mayor's Coffee Hour

Menino was not present but city officials were there to answer questions.

Mayor Thomas Menino did not attend Tuesday's Boston Parks and Recreation Department Neighborhood Coffee Hour Series at Clarendon Street Play Lot in Back Bay, however several city officials were on hand to take questions from residents.

City property chief Mike Galvin and city parks and recreation commissioner Toni Pollak were among the officials who appeared.

Pollak said the city grows followers at their greenhouses at Franklin Park to hand out to residents at these events and Tuesday was no different. She said it started as a Mother's Day tradition and grew into a spring tradition.
