Start of St. Agrippina Feast in the North End

Five thing to know on Fri, Aug. 3.

 

1. Hot With a Chance of Thunder: The National Weather Service predicts scattered thunderstorms between 4 and 9 p.m. Otherwise, it’s going to be cloudy and hot with a high of 94 with a 30 percent chance of rain. The evening should cool off to about 71.

2. The Saint Agrippina Di Mineo Feast: Open ceremonies for the weekend-long feast begin tonight at 7 p.m. Food, music, and a procession with Saint Agrippina at 459 Hanover St. Come join the fun of the famous North End feast!

3. Free Fun Friday at the Museum of Fine Arts: Massachusetts residents and tourists alike are invited to visit designated cultural attractions each Friday all summer long. 

4. Free Fun Fridays at the Arnold Arboretum: The Highland Street Foundation’s Free Fun Fridays program is encouraging visits to today (we don't say free, because visiting the Arboretum is always free!). This year 50 venues are participating in Free Fun Fridays, with five cultural venues open free-of-charge one Friday for 10 weeks throughout the summer. 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.

5. Billy Gardell Comedy Show: Come to the brand new Strand Theater at 543 Columbia Road for an evening of stand up comedy featuring Billy Gardell of the hit TV show "Mike and Molly," joined by Boston's Jack Lynch of www.comicsforrecovery.com. All proceeds will benefit Right Turn, A Creative Place for Recovery: Innovative Outpatient Treatment and Supportive Housing for Addiction. The show starts at 8 p.m. and costs $25.
