Time Capsule Celebrates Brewer Fountain Completion

Five things to know on Wed, May 2.

Celebrate the completion of the renovation of the Brewer Fountain Plaza today on the Boston Common, where the Friends of the Public Garden and the Mayor will fill a time capsule with items to commemorate the day. The new "urban oasis" includes patio tables, umbrellas, a "reading room" area with carts stocked with books, magazines and chess and checker boards, high-end food trucks, and a piano player providing daily lunchtime entertainments. Quite a change!

4. in Beacon Hill for their first full day of business Tuesday at 150 Charles St. In celebration of their opening, all customers at the Beacon Hill shop will get a free coffee with the purchase of a baked good throughout May. .

Jewelry store on 115 Newbury is holding a benefit tonight from 7 - 9 p.m. to support the Red Sox Foundation and the Massachusetts General Hospital Home Base Program, which provides clinical care and other services  for injured veterans. Guests will enjoy desserts from Crema in Harvard Square and coffee while shopping and socializing and 15 percent of proceeds from the event will directly benefit the organization.
