Man Arrested for $2-Mil False Claim to One Fund Using Dead Aunt's Name
A South End man allegedly submitted a $2.195 million claim to the One Fund Boston, saying his dead aunt - who's been dead for more than 10 years - suffered double amputations from the Boston Marathon bombings.Branden Mattier, 22, was arrested at his home on Tuesday, July 2, after an undercover Massachusetts state trooper gave him a "simulated check" made out for $2.195 million, according to apress release from Massachusetts Attorney General Martha Coakley's office. He was charged with attempted larceny of more than $250 and identity theft.
Police: Roxbury Man Charged with Assault and Battery
Boston Police responded to a report of a disturbance at 2 Yarmouth Place at about 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 29.
Upon arrival, officers spoke with a woman who had an injured ankle. Officers could see that the victim’s right ankle was severely swollen and discolored. When officers asked how the victim hurt her ankle, she would not answer. At this point, a man walked into the apartment from the back door. Christopher Dejarnette of 23 Dubois Street, Roxbury was arrested and charged with assault and battery.

Boston Public Library Gets Public Relations Honors
Boston Public Library, which is headquartered at its Central Branch in Back Bay's Copley Square, recently took home national honors for its public relations work.According to the library, they received three "Best of Show" honors at the American Library Association annual conference from the Library Leadership & Management Association, a division of the American Library Association.
