1 Charged After 'Low-Speed Pursuit' On Cape Cod

A New Hampshire man faces multiple charges after an odd pursuit which never saw speeds over 30 miles per hour.

ORLEANS, MA — A New Hampshire man faces multiple charges and was taken to an area hospital for evaluation after what police on Cape Cod are calling a "low-speed pursuit" on Monday morning.

Orleans police officers were notified around 6:40 a.m. of the pursuit heading into Orleans. The pursuit started in Wellfleet for "a subject that was potentially experiencing a mental health emergency," officials said.

A tire deflation device was deployed in Orleans along Rock Harbor Road at the intersection of Bridge Road.

Officers continued behind the vehicle for a time, though speeds never reached more than 30 miles per hour. The driver eventually stopped on Route 6A by the exit 89 on-ramp, police said.

The driver was identified as a 55-year-old man from New Hampshire who police said was taken into custody without incident.
