Waquoit Congregational Church

The hour long photo/lecture starts with the pre-war activation of the Division. Then we go over 26th's participation in the Carolina Maneuvers. After the Pearl Harbor attack the 26th was put to use in defense of our Coastline. The Division was then sent to the Tennessee Maneuvers. Finally the Yankee Division was deployed to Europe just before the Battle of Bulge.
We chronicle the heavy fighting during the winter to the rapid pursuit of the crumbling Nazi empire in the spring of 1945.

Sandwich Glass Museum

Discover the art of glass fusing in this engaging 2-hour class at the Sandwich Glass Museum, led by glass artist Kim Savoie. Perfect for beginners and enthusiasts alike, this hands-on workshop will guide participants aged 8 and up through the process of designing and creating two stunning glass pendants.
The class is offered twice, at 10am and 1pm, on Friday Dec 19th. Cost is $50 per person, $45 for Sandwich Glass Museum members. FALMOUTH, MA — The Falmouth Theatre Guild is thrilled to announce an encore presentation of Jonathan Larson’s groundbreaking rock musical RENT, returning to the Highfield Theater stage for a limited engagement. After a sold-out and emotionally charged run, the Guild is bringing the production back by popular demand, giving audiences another chance to experience the power, passion, and message of this timeless story.
"When we first staged RENT, the response from our community was overwhelming," said Director Joan McKenzie-Baird. "The show struck a deep emotional chord — both with our cast and our audiences. Its message of love, resilience, and chosen family feels as relevant today as ever. We knew we had to bring it back one more time."
Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, RENT tells the story of a group of young artists struggling to survive and create in New York City’s East Village under the shadow of HIV/AIDS. With its unforgettable score and raw emotional energy, RENT continues to inspire audiences to “measure their lives in love.”
The encore production features returning cast members from last year’s production.

WHAT: First Day Hikes Cape Cod 2026 – 5th Anniversary Celebration

WHEN: Thursday, January 1, 2026 6:45 am – 3 pm

WHAT: Did you know that “Getting Outside More” is one of the most common New Year’s resolutions, one of the easiest to actually keep, and one of the cheapest to implement. So, it comes as no surprise that First Day Hikes Cape Cod has become one of the most popular ways to celebrate the New Year in the region!

This fifth anniversary of this regional celebration features free events across Cape Cod including a range of opportunities for families, children, residents, and visitors to explore nature on the first day of the new year. Spearheaded by Barnstable Land Trust, and representing 15 organizations across Cape Cod, this one-of-a-kind regional celebration will include close to 20 special events throughout the day including sunrise hikes, nature walks, educational programs, and more. Previous festivals have attracted hundreds of people from on and off Cape Cod.

The day-long festival also celebrates the first anniversary of cape-wide Conservation Community Calendar which invites visitors and residents alike to explore nature programs year-round with just one click! Last year, over 660 programs were featured by nonprofit conservation groups throughout the year! About First Day Hikes Cape Cod
Championed by Barnstable Land Trust and supported by fifteen local conservation organizations, First Day Hikes Cape Cod celebrates the 5th Anniversary of this first-in-the-nation regional event that encourages people to get outdoors with free guided walks and activities to explore Cape Cod’s parks, trails, and natural resources. A tradition often celebrated by state park systems across the country, Cape Cod was the first to launch a regional initiative involving nonprofit conservation groups. This year participating nonprofit and conservation organizations include the 300 Committee Land Trust (Falmouth), Barnstable Land Trust, Brewster Conservation Trust, Chatham Conservation Foundation, Dennis Conservation Land Trust, Friends of Bass River (Dennis), Friends of Herring River (Wellfleet/Truro), Harwich Conservation Trust, Native Land Conservancy, Orenda Wildlife Land Trust, Orleans Conservation Trust, Sandwich Conservation Trust, Salt Pond Bird Sanctuaries (Bourne), Wareham Land Trust, and Wellfleet Conservation Trust. Created for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, this new illustrated book brings together often over-looked stories from the period 1761-1783 exploring local battles, privateering, divided loyalties, British shipwrecks that aided the Patriots, contributions of African American and Native American soldiers, and ten influential figures from the region who helped shape this pivotal era.

Join us for History on Tap with Sandy Macfarlane as she uncovers the fascinating stories shells tell and their surprising connections to our lives. From tiny, delicate fragments to bold, colorful, or even drab specimens, each shell holds a tale - not just of the creatures that once inhabited them, but of the ways we interact with the natural world. Drawing on her decades of experience as a Shellfish Biologist and Conservation Administrator for Orleans, Sandy will share how her own collection grew, often in unexpected ways, reflecting both the rich diversity of life along our shores and the hidden stories they reveal about us. Part of our History on Tap series—join us for an evening of local history, conversation, and craft brews.

Casting Call for THE COTTAGE


Director Sonia Schonning will hold open auditions on February 8, 10 and 11 from 6:30 PM to 9:00 PM at the Barnstable Comedy Club located at 3171 Main Street in Barnstable for the comedy, THE COTTAGE by Sandy Rustin. 
Casting is available for 3 males and 3 females. All roles use British accents ranging from working class to proper. Age ranges for all roles; 20’s – 50’s. All ethnicities are encouraged to audition. Actors will be asked to read from the script. Scripts are currently available at both the Sturgis Library and the Hyannis Public Library.
