The man charged in a shooting outside the Hyannis Youth & Community Center on Saturday night will remain in jail, the Cape Cod Times reports.
Wallace R. Grace III, 19, of Hyannis, plead not guilty on charges of assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a firearm, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a building.
Although Grace's bail was originally set at $5,000, he will be detained in the Barnstable County Correction Facility without the possibility of bail due to violating a probation ordered in December, the Times reports.
Grace's attorney, Frederick Mycock, says surveillance footage validates Grace's claim that he shot a 24-year-old in self defense.
"Somebody tried to rob him," Mycock told the Times.
Grace turned himself in to police Sunday morning. He awaits his July 10 pre-trial.
