Barnstable Public Roads Improvement Program Starts This Week

Here's where the improvement plan will begin, with detours and traffic flow pattern changes expected.

News release from Town of Barnstable.

HYANNIS, MA — Starting Monday, May 13, 2024, the Town of Barnstable will commence its annual Public Roads Improvement Program. Work will begin on Old Post Road, Marstons Mills, followed by Lumbert Mill Road, Centerville, and Santuit-Newtown Road, Marstons Mills. Work is anticipated to occur Monday through Friday, from 7:00AM to 4:00PM, weather pending.

Construction activity will occur in various phases including milling of the roadways, structure adjustments, paving, and landscaping restoration as needed. As a result, adjustments to traffic flow and detours will be necessary to safely complete portions of the work. Please refer to the traffic management figures provided for each location.

Traffic control will be available to assist in directing motorists as needed. Motorists should expect delays. As always, please slow down and use extreme caution when traveling through road construction areas and follow posted safety, detour signs, and onsite traffic control.
