"Boys & Girls Club" Warns Area of Magazine Scam Using Their Name

A Centerville resident near Blue Water Drive reported door-to-door magazines subscription sales falsely under the name of the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod, the Cape Cod Times reports.

The club urges the community to be careful, saying the sales are completely fraudulent.

"If someone knocks on your door saying that they are selling magazines and that it will benefit the Boys & Girls Club of Cape Cod, please contact the local police at once," Ruth Provost, the executive director, writes.

"It is not legitimate, and they are perpetrating an illegal scam," Provost writers.

The Mashpee Police Department says they will send a detective to follow up with the Boys & Girls Club, the Times writes.
