Welcome 2026 with great comedy at the Cotuit Center for the Arts.
Again this year, the Cotuit Center for the Arts will close out the year with three fantastic New Year’s Eve Comedy shows on Wednesday, December 31, at 5, 7, and 9 p.m.
Presented for the seventh year in a row by Scamps Comedy, the show is hosted by Cape Cod’s Favorite Comedian,&nbsp;Jim Ruberti, along with headliner&nbsp;Sean Sullivan&nbsp;and rising Rhode Island comedy star&nbsp;Tyler Hittner.
“This is one of my favorite events of the year,” says host Ruberti, a Centerville resident who works around New England and the East Coast. “There is nothing like comedy on New Year’s Eve. People come to the shows ready to laugh. We have a wonderful time, and it gets them ready for a new year.”
The show is appropriate for adults (18-plus), and there will be a cash bar. Doors will open one hour before each show. Tickets are $37, and $34 for seniors or members, available online (ArtsontheCape.org, ScampsComedy.com/shows).
Ruberti&nbsp;returns to host, as he’s done at the Cotuit Center for the Arts since 2019. This year was a big one for him, as he performed at the Hampton Beach (NH) Comedy Festival and hosted the first-ever Cotuit Comedy Festival (also held at the Cotuit Center for the Arts). He also performed around New England with the Ranting Parents Comedy Tour, and made his first appearance at the famous Nick’s Comedy Stop in Boston).
“Even with three shows, we sold out last year,” Ruberti said. “The crowds keep turning out, and the shows just keep getting better. As comedians, there’s nothing we like more than making people laugh, and from the feedback I get, the crowds have a wonderful time.”
Named as one of Boston's top comics by&nbsp;The Boston Globe,&nbsp;Boston Herald&nbsp;and&nbsp;Boston Phoenix,&nbsp;Sean Sullivan&nbsp;is an accomplished and popular stand-up comedian and sketch comedy performer, with loose and unpredictable tendencies that have audience members guessing at what he'll come up with next. Winner of the “Funniest Person in Massachusetts Award,” the former&nbsp;Late Night with Conan O'Brien&nbsp;intern has also been profiled in&nbsp;The Weekly Dig. He performed on&nbsp;Die Laughing, a 30-minute television pilot produced by&nbsp;Friends&nbsp;co-creator Kevin Bright. He has also appeared on Comedy Central and is a two-time semifinalist at the Boston Comedy Festival.
Rhode Island-based Tyler Hittner has made a name for himself in New England and New York City, where he’s the comic-in-residence at the popular Broadway Comedy Club and a recent win in the city's largest comedy competition, the 300-contestant "Comfy Clash." Suffering from viral meningitis and relying on a walker has never stopped Hittner from lighting up stages. With his energetic stage presence, hilarious jokes and stories, Hittner is a force to be reckoned with onstage. His charisma, charm and likability allow him to connect with all types of audiences and leave them wanting more. In 2023, he won Maine's “Wicked Funny Laugh Off” competition, and he was named Motif Magazine’s favorite live performer. He’s appeared at the Rogue Island Comedy Festival, the Whale City Comedy Festival in New Bedford, Mass. and the Portland (Maine) Comedy Festival.

WHAT: Did you know that “Getting Outside More” is one of the most common New Year’s resolutions, one of the easiest to actually keep, and one of the cheapest to implement. So, it comes as no surprise that First Day Hikes Cape Cod has become one of the most popular ways to celebrate the New Year in the region!

This fifth anniversary of this regional celebration features free events across Cape Cod including a range of opportunities for families, children, residents, and visitors to explore nature on the first day of the new year. Spearheaded by Barnstable Land Trust, and representing 15 organizations across Cape Cod, this one-of-a-kind regional celebration will include close to 20 special events throughout the day including sunrise hikes, nature walks, educational programs, and more. Previous festivals have attracted hundreds of people from on and off Cape Cod.

The day-long festival also celebrates the first anniversary of cape-wide Conservation Community Calendar which invites visitors and residents alike to explore nature programs year-round with just one click! Last year, over 660 programs were featured by nonprofit conservation groups throughout the year! Historian Dr. David Martin discusses his new book, The Revolutionary War on Cape Cod and the Islands. Created for the 250th anniversary of the American Revolution, this new illustrated book brings together often over-looked stories from the period 1761-1783 exploring local battles, privateering, divided loyalties, British shipwrecks that aided the Patriots, contributions of African American and Native American soldiers, and ten influential figures from the region who helped shape this pivotal era.
