Cape Cod Bank Branch Among East Coast Locations National Brand Will Close

A national bank will close locations in 12 states along the East Coast, including Massachusetts.

MASSACHUSETTS — A major bank is set to close dozens of locations along the East Coast, including one on Cape Cod.

TD Bank will close 51 branches in 12 states and Washington, D.C. That includes six bank locations in Massachusetts.

The Cape Cod location set to close is at 1708 Falmouth Rd., in Centerville. Just off the Cape, a Wareham drive-thru at 242 Main St. is also set to close.

The Boston Business Journal was the first to report the news locally, stating the move is part of a relocation plan for the company.

Company officials described the closures as an effort to "strengthen and scale" its U.S. retail presence.

TD Bank said it would close the Massachusetts locations by Jan. 29, 2026. Branches that could be closing include:

  • 175 Cabot St., Beverly
  • 153 Meadow St., Chicopee
  • 1708 Falmouth Road, Centerville
  • 45 Central St., Lowell
  • 99 West St., Pittsfield
  • 79 Lynnfield St., Peabody

In March of this year, TD Bank said it would close bank branches in Bradford, East Longmeadow, Framingham, Holyoke, Methuen and Tewksbury. In that instance, the bank closed 38 locations in its East Coast service area.

That announcement came after the bank pleaded guilty in a federal money laundering scheme and agreed to a $3 billion fine back in October — making it the first national bank to do so.
