Cape Cod Motorcycle Rider Suffers 'Significant' Injuries In Crash

Four other people were taken to the hospital for evaluation after the crash, which is currently under investigation.

BOURNE, MA — A motorcycle rider suffered "significant" injuries in a crash that sent four others to an area hospital, police said.

On May 15, around 8 p.m., the Bourne Police Department received numerous 911 calls regarding a motor vehicle collision involving a motorcycle.

The collision was reported to be at the intersection of the Mid-Cape Connector and Sandwich Road, with initial reports stating that the sole operator of the motorcycle was on the ground with injuries.

Officers responded along with Bourne Fire and Rescue. The collision involved a black, 2016 Harley Davidson XL-1200 and a grey, 2015 Nissan Pathfinder.

The operator of the motorcycle, a 32-year-old man from Sandwich, was initially treated by an off-duty EMT and transported to a regional trauma center with significant injuries. The operator of the Nissan, a 27-year-old from Hyannis, her adult passenger and two juveniles, were transported to an area hospital for evaluation.

The collision resulted in traffic being rerouted from the area. It is currently under investigation by the Cape and Islands Accident Reconstruction Team.
