Cape Cod Structure Fire Extinguished Quickly

No firefighters or residents were injured, officials said.

EASTHAM, MA — On Wednesday, around 07:32 a.m., the Eastham Fire Department responded to a report of a possible structure fire, smoke coming from the structure.

First arriving Eastham Fire Department personnel found smoke coming from the structure. The structure was unoccupied and the fire was quickly located and extinguished.

Initially, a line response was requested, bringing Orleans, Wellfleet and Harwich Fire Departments to the scene. There was a quick knockdown of the fire from the Eastham crew.

At 7:45 a.m. fire was extinguished. Orleans Fire assisted at the scene with overhaul and all units cleared the scene by 9 a.m.

The structure had significant smoke damage, but there were no civilian or firefighter injuries.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, but it appears to be accidental, officials said.
