Cape Cod's Eat Cake 4 Breakfast For Sale
In a humbled and transparent letter, Eat Cake's owner shared her personal plans for the future and hopes for the business.
BREWSTER, MA — Eat Cake 4 Breakfast recently closed for the season on Cape Cod. This week, however, Danielle Nettleton announced she wouldn't reopen the business, but someone else could.
In a Facebook post, Nettleton explained that she'd be putting the business up for sale to raise her daughter closer to family in Connecticut.
"I knew this would be our last summer, and I know I haven’t been forthcoming with everyone, but as we all know the rumor mill on the Cape can be a whirlwind and I didn’t want this news to effect business," she wrote. "I know this will come as quite a surprise for many of you; it is truly bittersweet, because as so many of you have said to me, the time with our babes flies, and I don’t want to miss out on any of the moments with Scout after working so hard to have a baby."

Describing the bakery as a longtime dream realized, Nettleton said nothing was more fulfilling than helping other create memories.
"Nothing made me happier than hearing how much Eat Cake meant to you and your loved ones. And now it’s time for me to make the memories with mine," she said.

The bakery highlighted classic French pastries with a Cape Cod twist, and has been open for nearly a decade in Brewster.
Nettleton said she hopes someone will purchase the bakery and shape its future however they see fit.
