Lauzon conceded early Wednesday morning with this message:

"Unfortunately, we came up short in our bid to bring change to the Cape and Islands. I want to thank so many wonderful people for their tireless efforts in not one but two consecutive campaigns. I am proud of all we did and the issues we brought attention to. I still believe we deserve better representation on Beacon Hill, and will continue to advocate for my friends and neighbors any way that I can."

Cyr, the incumbent, is the Assistant Majority Whip in the Massachusetts Senate, and serves as the Chairperson for the Joint Committee on Public Health and the Vice Chair on the Joint Committee on Mental Health, Substance Use and Recovery.

He has served in the State Senate since 2016.

Lauzon also ran for this seat in 2022 before eventually losing. He is a mechanic at his family business, Alignments Plus Auto Repair in Hyannis. Lauzon was appointed to Barnstable's Comprehensive Financial Advisory Committee in 2023.
