Heavy Fire Knocked Down At Anthony's Cummaquid Inn In Yarmouth

Anthony's Cummaquid Inn ​was a surf n' turf restaurant in Yarmouth that had been shuttered for several years.

YARMOUTH, MA — A fire at the site of the former Anthony's Cummaquid Inn has been brought under control after burning for several hours Sunday night, according to the Yarmouth Fire Department.

The fire was reported at two Route 6A at Yarmouth Port just before 6:30 p.m., when a passerby spotted heavy flames coming from the property.

Firefighters brough in crews from Barnstable, Dennis, Hyannis, and Brewster and an ambulance from Harwich as the fire had advanced quickly throughout the structure and was threatening other buildings on the property and adjacent brush areas.

There were no known civilian injuries, though one fire department member was evaluated at the scene for a minor injury, officials said.

The fire's cause is under investigation and fire crews were still on scene Monday morning.
