Masks Required Inside Cape Cod National Seashore Buildings

Federal buildings at Cape Cod National Seashore are again requiring masks due to heightened COVID-19 transmission levels.

CAPE COD, MA — The National Parks Service announced that masks are back at the Cape Cod National Seashore.

According to officials, all visitors to the seashore are required to wear masks inside federal buildings due to heightened COVID-19 transmission levels in Barnstable County, including the Salt Pond Visitor Center.

According to the Centers For Disease Control and Prevention, Barnstable County saw a 29 percent increase in COVID-19 cases during the week of Jan. 4, consistent with the time many were likely testing after holiday gatherings.

Testing data from the CDC shows that 14 percent of people who tested received results back that they had COVID-19, an increase of 2 percent from the prior week.

When COVID-19 transmission rates are high, the CDC recommends wearing a high-quality mask or respirator indoors, and to avoid exposure as best as possible, particularly if you're at a high risk of getting sick.
