No Injuries After Small Plane Crashes Into Fence At Local Cape Cod Airport

Four occupants of the plane declined medical attention after it left the runway at a small airport.

CHATHAM, MA — An investigation is ongoing after a small plane left the runway and crashed into a fence at a local Cape Cod airport.

On Sunday at 5:22 p.m., Chatham Police and Fire/Rescue were dispatched to the Chatham Airport, 240 George Ryder Road for a report that a small plane had left the runway and crashed into a fence and wood line at the runway’s edge.

It was also reported that the plane’s four occupants were outside of the aircraft and were not reporting any injuries. There were no reported fires or hazards.

On the public safety’s arrival, the pilot and passengers were located. The pilot, of Truro, and three passengers, two from Truro and one from Sandwich, all declined medical attention.

Chatham Airport Officials were also on scene shortly after the incident was reported.

The aircraft remained at the airport awaiting the arrival of the FAA and Mass Aeronautics Commission, who will be in charge of the investigation.

The cause of this crash is currently under investigation.
