Outer Cape Health Services Receives $1.4 Million Legacy Gift
The gift comes from Mark Fallon Carpenter, who died earlier this year at 60.
PROVINCETOWN, MA — Mark Fallon Carpenter was a well-traveled man, but his heart always had a piece of Provincetown.
Carpenter died in January, but friends and family gathered this week to celebrate his life. During the ceremony, it was announced that Carpenter left a legacy gift of more than $1.4 million to Outer Cape Health Services (OCHS) - one of the largest individual gifts in the organization’s history.
Carpenter, who died at 60, was a long-time supporter of OCHS and patient of Dr. William Shay, an internal medicine physician, officials said.

Carpenter "believed strongly" in the OCHS mission to provide accessible, quality health care for everyone on the Outer Cape, officials added.
His gift was made through a combination of retirement accounts and a trust, which will support essential services across OCHS’s health centers in Provincetown, Wellfleet and Harwich Port.

“Mark’s generosity reflects his values,” said Michael Rhodes, his longtime friend. “He wanted to make a lasting difference in the place he loved most. He wanted to find the most impactful way to support the local community and chose OCHS for its importance to the health and well-being of people of Provincetown and the Outer Cape.”
“We are deeply honored by Mark’s gift, which comes at a critical time,” said OCHS CEO Damian Archer, MD. “He sets an example of the kind of commitment necessary to ensure access to high-quality primary care remains available in communities like Provincetown and across the Outer and Lower Cape. We are extremely grateful for this gift that keeps us hopeful for the future.”
