Provincetown's First Light New Year’s Eve Fireworks Ring In New Year

The annual Provincetown festivities are on the schedule again this year. Here's what to know ahead of the big event.

News release from Town of Provincetown.

PROVINCETOWN, MA — The Town of Provincetown will host its annual First Light New Year’s Eve fireworks display on Tuesday, December 31 at 5:00 p.m., weather permitting. The fireworks celebration over the harbor launches from MacMillan Pier, and the best views for the fireworks are on the beach by the pier.

As has been the Town's practice since a non-binding resolution was passed by Town Meeting voters, these will be “low noise” fireworks. This means that the fireworks will mostly look and sound the same, but the big, concussive “booms” that are most disturbing to people, pets, and wildlife have been removed from the show.

Free parking is available for residents and visitors in any of the Town’s municipal lots, such as the MacMillan Pier Parking Lot (located in the center of town by Lopes Sq.) and Grace Hall Parking Lot (located at Prince St. and Bradford St.).
