Take a Journey of Flavors at 'Indian Pavilion' in Hyannis

Do you love Indian food but fear you might be out of luck on Cape Cod?

Luckily for you, Indian Pavilion is conveniently located on Hyannis Main Street and has all the staples of a good restaurant: late hours, a bar and, of course, delicious food.

Their extensive menu features a variety of authentic vegetarian and meat dishes including popular choices like Chicken Tikka Masala, samosas, curries and Tandoori dishes. All dishes are available with mild, medium or hot spice level.

(I highly recommend sticking to medium heat. I like to fashion myself as a spicy-food enthusiast, but even I was no match for their "hot.")

Make sure to accompany your entree with a cold glass of Mango Lassi, a thick, cold, creamy, yogurt-like drink that perfectly evens out the dishes' heat and flavors. An order of garlic Naan, an oven-baked bread similar to pita, is also a must-try.

For those of you who have always wanted to try Indian but are intimidated by the stereotypes that it's too spicy or are afraid you won't like it, I recommend trying mild Chicken Tikka Masala, the Tandoori Chicken or mild Vegetable Korma.

Although the food is a little pricy, that is fairly typical of Indian cuisine. Plus, there is only one other Indian restaurant on the Cape: The Golden Swan in Falmouth. If you're looking to save a little money, their lunch specials are a good deal.

The restaurant is never too packed, even in the peak of the summer, and the restaurant happily offers carry-out in case you want to enjoy that Chicken Curry in the comfort of your own home.
