Town to Hold Climate Change Preparation Workshop

The town of Barnstable's Growth Management Program is teaming up with area organizations to host trainings to prepare the public for potential climate changes in coastal communities, according to a press release.

In partnership with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Science Impact Collaborative and the Waquoit Bay National Estuarine Research Reserve, the town "will host a sophisticated and simple role-play simulation workshop to explore methods to decrease vulnerability to climate change impacts and also gauge consensus on adaptation strategies," the press release stated.

The first meeting in June went well, the release said. The next training will be held on Monday, Aug. 5 in the Hearing Room at Barnstable Town Hall. The afternoon workshop will run from 1 to 4 p.m. and the evening workshop from 5 to 8 p.m. Refreshments will be provided.
